Please review your assigned states for Module 7. The state assigned should be
compared to Louisiana. This assignment comprises three parts, so I urge you to read
the instructions carefully. It would be beneficial for you to research the state boards for
both states, as this will assist you in obtaining the bulk of the necessary information.
The three parts of the assignment include an APA paper, an APA PowerPoint, and a
reflection on the course. For this assignment I will allow the years to be within 8 years if
it is from the state board of nursing only.

factors could be the history of the APRN role, APRN allows for more care, etc.

Background
Background of your assigned state for an APN compared to Louisiana as an
APRN (When was the law passed for APRNs to work in the state? Was there a
need, etc.? How did it come to be? Include APRN demographics for both states.
Advanced Practice Nurse Requirements (this should be a paragraph for each bullet
point below)
Discuss board certification by comparing the two states. (What organizations
offer certifications? What is required to sit for the certification exam?
Requirements for education courses, clinical hours, etc.)
Discuss requirements for renewal of APN license and certification
Discuss/analyze the collaborative agreements in both states
Discuss/analyze the prescriptive authority in both states
State Differences in Practice (this should be a paragraph for each bullet point below)
Analyze restrictions for APRNs between the two states (such as practice
independent, dependent, prescriptive authority, etc.)
Analyze hospital privileges and how they work in each state for an APN (what
must an APN do to get privileges at the hospital/facility? Can APNs get
privileges at a hospital?
Analyze the nursing compact for both states for an APN, not an RN
Analyze Palliative/end-of-life care for both states for an APN- What can APRNs
do in this clinical setting? Medications, pronouncing death, DNR, etc.)
Conclusion
Summary of the key points and highlights of the paper. This is different from
what you have discussed. What did you learn from this for your future practice?
