Directions:
The purpose of this assignment is to apply the concepts related to assessing the readability of educational materials. Students are to select one
example of educational material (a textbook or patient educational material). Select one of the following formulas to determine the reading level of
the selected material: (a) the Flesch-Kincaid Scale, (b) Fog Index, (c) Fry Readability Graph-Extended, (d) SMOG Formula, and (e) computer software
programs such as Microsoft Word. After determining the reading level, compare your findings with the reading level of the intended audience
(students or patients). Submit the assignment via the assignment dropbox. Grading will be based on the rubric criteria outlined below.
