JOURNAL #1: ROLES
- Students are encouraged to read all the material to answer the journal questions. Question responses must be in Essay Form with proper sentence structure, grammar and supported with references, using the lates APA style (do between 2 and 3 pages) write them in 3rd person, do not include the questions!!
- Explore resources to be able to answer the following questions. Use at least two sources provided in the links at the end of the document, along with any additional reliable sources you can find. Use these references to inform your responses and include as much as possible.
- You are explaining to your family and friends that you are enrolled in a nursing graduate program at the University of Miami studying to become a nurse practitioner. Be prepared to discuss the following items:
- Discuss the role of the APRN (Advanced Practice Registered Nurses) and PA and what are the differences (include the education requirements for each).
- Explore the current evidence regarding how the APRNs (Advanced Practice Registered Nurses) contribute to healthcare.
- Describe any barriers that APRNs may encounter working as an APRN
- What is the consensus model? How does this apply to me?
- What can, or can’t I do in practice? For example, can I perform I&D’s?
- What is Full Practice Authority, what states have adopted FPA (Full Practice Authority) licensure laws and how will it impact patient care?
- What do I need to obtain a license to practice in FL?
- What do I need to sit for national boards?
- What are the different boards? Which should I choose and why?
