Scenario
You are a biostatistician embedded in a biomedical research team investigating the effects of treatments on biomarker levels and patient outcomes. The lead scientist has provided a dataset and a set of predefined research questions relevant to their ongoing project. Based on the team’s preliminary review, they have also proposed suitable statistical tests to be applied for each research question.
Your task is to conduct a comprehensive statistical analysis of the dataset, following the structure laid out by the research team. You are expected to validate assumptions, execute the proposed analyses (or justify alternatives), and interpret the findings in a clear and biologically meaningful manner.
About the Dataset
The dataset represents 36 human patients recruited into a clinical trial. Each patient was assigned to
- One of the two main treatment groups (Group2) – for example, Group A = standard care, Group B = experimental treatment
- One of three subgroups (Group3) – representing different dosages or drug formulations (T1, T2, T3).
Various biomarkers and clinical outcomes (e.g., recovery time, disease severity) were measured for each patient.

- Analyze the dataset according to Table 1’s Research Questions.
- Ensure statistical assumptions are tested before performing each inferential analysis.
- Provide interpretation of statistical results in biological terms, not just statistical jargon.
Submission Requirements
You must submit:
1. Cleaned dataset (Excel) – include the original and cleaned versions with proper labelling of the sheet
2. Written Report (less than 3000 words), structured as follows:
a. Introduction
b. Methods: statistical tests used, assumptions checked, justification for test selection, variables
c. Results: clear tables/figures with test statistics, r, p-values, and visual summaries, and all relevant test’s outputs
d. Interpretation & discussion: Explain what the result suggest biologically; relate findings to treatment impacts and patient outcomes
e. Limitations and suggestions for further research
f. References (APA 7th edition)
