Part 1

In a brief writing of 200-250 words, complete ONE of the following options:

Option 1
Name at least one of your favorite active reading techniques, other than the ones listed in the readings, and explain what the technique entails, how and when you learned about it, what its benefits are for you, and why you would recommend it to other readers.

Option 2
Choose at least two active reading techniques explain why you chose them, what differences you have noticed while practicing with those techniques, which one(s) you will continue using and why.

Please, title your post with "Option 1," or "Option 2."

Keep in mind that if you use someone else's words, definitions, ideas, whether via quoting, or paraphrasing, or summarizing, you are required to cite them and follow the MLA or APA format in doing so to prevent plagiarism. This means that some of your writing in the document will include in-text citations and that your list of sources will be included within a Works Cited or Reference page at the end of your writing.

Part 2

Design a document (brochure, flyer, poster, infographic, or bookmark) for other students at the institution to help them understand and implement active reading strategies. Make sure you cite your source (the textbook) as needed.

For your document, include the following:

1.     List the active reading strategies identified in the texts you read for this module. Make sure you cite the textbook according to APA or MLA format. Decide which ones you will include in the document you design to teach fellow SLU students about active reading.

2.     Decide the design, style, and platform (brochure, bookmark, flyer, poster, infographic) for your teaching aid.
You may use a template (Hint: Microsoft Word, for example, comes with many creative templates to get you started; Canva, or you may use AI to design your material. Make sure your prompts in AI are screenshot and placed in the reference page or Works Cited page).
– What color scheme, font make sense for what you are trying to do? Make sure you explain in your narrative why you chose the colors you did.

3.     Decide what content goes where.
– Remember that we read from left to right, so with this in mind choose the placement of images and text based upon importance.

4.     Annotate your final document, justifying or explaining the choices you made in it by providing at least 8-10 separate annotations on a separate page.

5.     Upload your document with the title of the genre you chose for it: bookmark, flyer, poster, brochure, infographic.
