Coursework Task

You are required to answer two questions from the list of four that is presented below.

For each question, part (a) will be worth 80% of the marks for that question and part (b) will be worth 20% of the marks for that question.

In each case, aim for an answer of close to 1000 words for part (a) and part (b) combined.

It is recommended that you aim for 800 words for each part (a) answer and 200 words for each part (b) answer. This is proportionate to the weighting.

Note that there is an overall word limit of 2200 wordsacross both answers that you provide. This is the total for your submission. Sentences and paragraphs that exceed this 2200 total will not be marked.

The title page and references/bibliography are excluded from the word count.

There are four questions that you should consider out of which you should choose two. Each response will be worth equal marks.

Throughout, you should justify your argument using concepts from the course, literature (papers and articles), data, and reference to firms or other organizations.

You will gain marks for a clear, well-argued answer that shows evidence of understanding of the course, wider reading, good use of data to provide evidence and the ability to make links to firms and/or organizations.

Please note that part (a) of the questions ask that you critically evaluate a proposition. You should evaluate the proposition by arguing for and against it and giving an overall assessment at the end.

The four questions are as below. Choose two:

1. (a) Critically evaluate the following proposition: The market for Artificial Intelligence in healthcare will be dominated by a small number of very powerful firms.
   (b) Nominate a hospital or a medical clinic that is known to you and provide advice to its managers on how AI is likely to affect its operations.
2. (a) Critically evaluate the following proposition: Agile development methods in software development are vital to the future of cybersecurity.

   (b) An entrepreneur is preparing to build a startup company of ten software developers. These developers will be deployed to create finance solutions for major firms by monitoring payments made in international trade. Write a briefing note to the entrepreneur that addresses whether the majority of the investment should be made on expertise in Waterfall development or Agile development.

3. (a) Critically evaluate the following proposition: Evidence shows that teenagers should substantially reduce their use of social media or even quit it entirely.

   (b) Identify one social media site. Describe it and state why you consider it to be either (i) harmful or (ii) beneficial to teenagers.

4. (a) Critically evaluate the following proposition: New smart cities built by high-technology companies will provide residents with higher standards-of-living than any conventional city.

   (b) Choose an existing town or city that is known to you and give examples of how smart technology might be applied to it, stating whether you consider the examples are likely to be (i) harmful or (ii) beneficial to residents

Given the brevity of each answer, note that it is not necessary to provide detailed explanation of various conceptual ideas; rather you should concentrate on using appropriate frameworks/concepts to provide insight into the practical dimensions of the propositions discussed.

All material (academic and other) that you cite should be properly referenced in the text and in the reference list (in Harvard style) at the end of your report.For guidance, each answer should have ten or more references.

Word Count and Format

Note again the word limit described above of 2,200 words. Each of the two answers should be close to 1,000 words. The overall word count must not exceed 2,200 words. We will disregard anything you write above 2,200. Please state the word count on the first page of your assignment.
