You are expected to complete this assessment using examples, and experiences from your own business workplace. This approach ensures the assessment reflects real-world application and meets NZQA requirements.

The purpose of these tasks is to analyse the impact internal and external business factors can have on business operation and organisational change.
Task 1: Impact of the Internal Environment on Business Operations and Decision Making LO1 – 20 marks
a) Research two (2) New Zealand businesses.
State the name of the businesses and analyse how the following internal business environmental factors impact the business operation and decision-making.
Two (2) impacts (and an example from the business) are required for each internal environment.
Internal business environment factors:
- Business objectives
- Organisational structure.
A minimum of two (2) credible sources to be used and referenced.
20 marks –10 marks per business -5 marks for the analysis, 2 marks for each impact and 1 mark for each example.
Task 2: Impact of External Environment on Business Operations and Decision Making – LO1 – 20 marks
a) Using the two businesses in Task 1 analyse how the following external business factors can impact business operations and the decision-making – for a business that you are familiar with.
- Economic factors
- Political factors.
Two (2) impacts (and an example from the business) are required for each external environment.
A minimum of two (2) credible sources to be used and referenced.
20 marks –10 marks per business -5 marks for the analysis, 2 marks for each impact and 1 mark for each example.
Task 3: Impact of Internal Environment on Organisational Change LO2 – 18 marks
a) Analyse how the following internal business environmental factors can impact change within a business
Internal business environment factors:
- Business processes
- Leadership styles.
Two (2) examples from a business you are familiar with are required for each internal environmental factor.
A minimum of two (2) credible sources to be used and referenced.
18 marks – 9 marks per factor – 5 marks for the analysis of the internal business environment factor relationship with change, and 2 marks for each example.
Task 4: Impact of External Environment on Organisational Change LO2 – 18 marks
a) Analyse how the following external business environmental factors can impact change within a business
External business environment factors:
- Local council regulations
- Tariffs imposed on products overseas.
Two (2) examples for each factor from a business you are familiar with are required for each external environmental factor.
A minimum of two (2) credible sources to be used and referenced.
18 marks –9 marks per factor – 5 marks for the analysis of the external business environment factor relationship with change, and 2 marks for each example
