Part One

Search the American Association of Colleges of Nursing Web site for information about the nursing shortage.

• In 75–100 words, summarize what you found about the issues related to the nursing shortage.
• What has your employer or health care system done to prevent a nursing shortage?

Part Two

Search the CT Library for articles discussing the nursing shortage. Look for articles published in the last 5 years. You are required to use 1 scholarly resource in addition to your textbook.

• What does the literature say about the perils of short staffing for nurses?
• Discuss methods used in the workplace to prevent staff shortages.
