Students choose a health topic, ideally from their own practice, and analyse how colonisation and the determinants of health shape outcomes for Māori in Aotearoa, then evaluate the Treaty of Waitangi principles set by the Waitangi Tribunal (2019) and what they mean for health policy and the health system.
Background to the Assessment
Where possible using your own health practice context, analyse the determinants of health and health outcomes for Māori in Aotearoa, and evaluate the five Treaty of Waitangi principles determined by the Waitangi Tribunal (2019) and their implications on the health system and health strategies related to Māori health.

Read the essay requirements and the marking rubric carefully before you start. Do not use bullet points to list issues or explanations; sub-headings are optional.
