Instead of focusing on academic analysis, creative praxis involves active participation and experiments within religious studies. In this method, scholars can achieve the following when understanding religious contexts. For example, they can participate in performing music, visual arts, literature and others to explore embodied religious themes. They can also use the creative expression to gain understanding. Besides, they can also participate in practices such as ritual or dance to learn about the sense of mindfulness and connection in these practices.

In creative praxis, after experimenting and engaging, individuals can make critical reflection to analyze these experiences. They can propose assumptions or ask questions to gain more insights. Creative praxis allows individuals to apply creative approaches to various social and religious issues and get personal connections with religious community.

The method of creative praxis is highly dynamic and it offers personal engagement beyond traditional academic framework. This can provide scholars and individuals with higher level of interests. However, this also presents challenges since it diverges from conventional scholarly methodologies. Ethical considerations can arise since participants need to be considerate and respectful to these creative activities that they are in as we need to avoid any misrepresentation or disrespect to religious beliefs and practices. This is also a great challenge since cultural traditions and appropriation might vary.

For my original research question, which was how queer community is adapting in modern society, the method of creative praxis can be inappropriate because there isn’t much that can be explored through personal engagement. Using creative praxis might shift the focus of the any research question towards exploring rather than solely examining behavioral or social aspects. If a research question relies more on creativity other than analyzing the reality, creative praxis can be highly recommended.
