Alternative Treatment Assignment
Each student will be required to write an APA-style paper on an alternative treatment for autism spectrum disorders. The paper must include the following:
Title page
Abstract
Introduction that begins with an introductory paragraph and synthesizes the literature on the selected treatment (must include at least 5 peer-reviewed articles)
The introductory paragraph must end with a clear purpose statement (see grading rubric)
The literature review must not just summarize the articles you found; make sure you read and put all of the information together to make an argument to answer the research question
Include limitations of the studies reviewed
Provide future research recommendations
Make sure to not just provide a “list” of recommendations, but an explanation of how a researcher would evaluate the research recommendation
Provide a conclusion as to whether the treatment is supported or refuted by the literature
References
Papers must be typed in Times New Roman size 12 font and follow APA guidelinesLinks to an external site.. A grading rubric is available on CANVAS.
There is no required length to this paper; however, it must be detailed enough to answer the research question: Is the selected alternative treatment supported or refuted by the literature? Why or why not? But you also want to make sure you can keep the reader’s attention (i.e., it shouldn’t be less than 3 pages or more than 15 or so pages of text; the title page, abstract, and references do not count towards the page minimum/maximum).
**You may submit a rough draft of the paper during module 12 of the course. It will not be graded; however, I will provide you with feedback on ways to improve your paper.
