As a school nurse, we are recognized to be part of the educational team besides assisting students with first aid and distribution of medication to certain students with physician orders, not including the rest of the students and educational staff. we also provide emotional and mental health support; and advocate for those students who are unable to do so for themselves. Although our job consists of assisting students, we also provide them with the basic knowledge they need to be more independent such as understanding medical orders, and medications provided.
In today modern medicine communication and collaboration are very crucial in healthcare when it comes to patient care, nurses cooperate with nurses to provide reports to physicians, specialists, social workers, and therapists working as a collaborative group to provide problem-solving for the well-being and safety of the patient. Safety is the number one rule for nurses, physicians, and medical personnel to avoid medical errors including death.
