CCSP510 Research Essay
The goal is to write an essay of 10-15,000 words on a research topic of your choice. The research is usually an investigation and synthesis of literature on a topic (e.g., a systematic review), but it can involve new research involving data analysis, if you have suitable data to hand. It can’t involve new data-gathering as there isn’t enough time in the trimester to get this done and written up. The steps to go through are:
- Settle on a topic and find a supervisor during T2. Your CCSP lecturers can help with both steps. If you can’t find a supervisor, one of the CCSP team will volunteer to supervise.
- Talk to your supervisor and find a working arrangement, frequency of meetings and so on.
- Aim to have a draft essay ready to show your supervisor in January, so they have time to guide your writing towards completion, as necessary.
- Hand in your essay by week 11 of Trimester 3.
- In week 12 of the Trimester, give a 15-minute presentation on your research.
These presentations will be given in combination with CCSP511 in the final week of the trimester.
