Preview of Unit 3 Assignment: Project 1: Local Community College Presentation Take NoteThis assignment will be due in Unit 3. This preview is provided to help you prepare for the upcoming assignment.
This assignment is written as a scenario. Read the scenario and then create a slide presentation following the instructions below. Ensure you have met the requirements for the assignment submission, listed below.
Scenario: Because of your IT position and your expertise in cybersecurity, you have been asked by a local community college to be a guest speaker in a class titled “Introduction to Cybersecurity.” The instructor of the class would like you to discuss cybersecurity concepts and their applications. The class lasts 50 minutes. Thus, the instructor would like you to present enough material for 20 to 30 minutes of class time, leaving 20 minutes for student questions.
Instructions: Use Chapter 1 from your textbook, current events, your professional experiences, and “real life” cases to create a PowerPoint slide presentation that discusses cybersecurity concepts and their applications. (Note: Prepare the show as if you were going to present it to the imagined class in the scenario. The students of the class, “Introduction to Cybersecurity,” are your audience for this presentation.) In your slide presentation, cover all the following concepts and include two additional concepts from Chapter 1 that you believe the students need to know. Use at least one slide per concept. Hardware, software, and data CIA Authentication and nonrepudiation Vulnerabilities Threats Cyber attackers/hackers (individuals and organizations/groups) Risks Countermeasures Budget allocation considerations Two additional concepts of your choice from Chapter 1 of your textbook Requirements: Your presentation must include the following: A title slide with your name and the presentation’s title An agenda slide listing key themes that will be discussed One slide with professional information about yourself (this can be real or fictitious) A definition of cybersecurity and its relationship to computer security (Remember that students are in an Introduction to Cybersecurity class.) At least one slide per concept (Be sure to discuss the concept’s definition and include at least one “real world” example of the concept. Consider using current events, but you may also create situations.) A conclusion/summary slide that reinforces the presentation’s main themes for the audience A references slide at the end of your presentation that cites the sources you used (Use APA 7 style.) Refrain from relying on blogs as sources. To find credible sources, you might begin with the UMGC Library using OneSearch, Google Scholar, or web search (Google), government websites, and professional organizations. Use APA 7 formatting throughout your paper. Format your presentation according to the following guidelines: Choose a relevant, professional background for your slides. You may use pictures on slides where appropriate. There are numerous resources online and in the library that provide examples and insights for creating effective slide presentations. Follow APA 7 style in writing and for slide presentations.
