Emerging and Vulnerable Families
Let’s have an honest discussion. It can be very difficult for some teachers to work with emerging and vulnerable families. Emerging families might include families from the LGBTQ community and vulnerable families might include families who are homeless. What emotions might you or others feel when thinking about working with emerging and vulnerable families? Why might some educators feel scared, intimidated or unsure of how to approach families who may identify as LGBTQ? How might educators perceive families who are homeless and how might this affect their teaching or relationships with the families?
