As a citizen of this planet it is important to be aware that many of these rights are denied to our fellow human beings, in other countries, and in some cases our own United States. Write an essay that introduces the reader to the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights and the ideas established in the document (preamble, declarations, and articles). In your own words, establish a basic definition of Human Rights based on your reading of this document. In addition, choose three (3) of the thirty (30) articles that you think are most important in ensuring a better life as the “highest aspiration of the common people.” Paraphrase the Universal Human Rights you think are significant and then offer ogical reasons why you think those rights are significant. Finally, choose one of the articles from the UDHR where you take issue with the contents. Argue why this article is lacking or where you take issue with the content. Make sure you state how the article can be improved. In your essay, cite at least three (3) separate sources from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Just Mercy, and an alternative source you find (seven references to specific texts total are required) to develop and illustrate your points. Make sure to discuss reasons why you believe the rights are essential. In addition, feel free to use your prior knowledge and experience to illustrate how you feel about basic human rights for all.
