The theories and techniques you are drawn to share a lot about your personality and style when it comes to working with clients. As you progress through the program, you will learn more about yourself and how you want to practice as a counselor. Choose an intervention or technique from the book: Basic Counseling Techniques (Perry, 2016) or The Skilled Helper by Gerard Egan (2014). The Perry book can be purchased for your Kindle at $2.99 or the Egan book is a Cengage and is free if you have Cengage Unlimited. Then, write a paper and include a discussion of:
Describe the technique/intervention
Why you chose this technique?
What population of clients do you think it would be most effective with?
What training or experience is necessary to effectively use this technique?
Is there a type of client this technique should not be used with?
How do you see yourself incorporating this into your career as a counselor?
How difficult is it to implement? Does it require a cooperative client or homework to make it most useful?
Is this an evidence-based technique that has been proven successful through research on a designated population.
All content should be synthesized to produce a 5-7 page (aside from the title and references pages) double- spaced paper in APA. Use at least 5 other professional and scholarly resources to support your position. You will submit the paper in Canvas.
