Title: The Impact of Marketing and Culture on Obesity in the United States

You recently learned about fundamental human motivations. Eating is one of them. Unfortunately, eating disorders and obesity are very prevalent in our society. In the United States, obesity has been described by the U.S. Surgeon General as an epidemic. By 2008, the estimate was that 68% of American adults were overweight and 34% were considered obese.
For this next project, you are to conduct your own research. You can think about obesity from many angles such as: eating as an addiction, eating as a stress reliever, eating and marketing/economics, eating and culture… Chose one area to focus on and research. Use your school library (or library website) to retrieve 2 articles about your topic. These articles should be from academic journals (ex. Bio Med Central Nutrition Journal, Journal of Pan African Studies, Clinical Psychology Review, etc.). Make sure that the articles are not dated before 2005. Do not look on Wikipedia or find a website on your topic. Write about the two articles that you found and find links to information from the text (this is very important and you must have these links to score well on the paper). Make sure that you cite the articles at the end of the paper (references) and within the paper (parenthetical) using APA format. Based on what you’ve read, you should also draw some conclusions about the links between obesity and your topic/lens, based on what you’ve learned.
The paper should be no less than 2 pages, double-spaced.
