Once you have reviewed it, go to the Strategy Questions (also in Course Content) and answer those questions. You need not post those answers, but use that information to post your answers to the following questions.
1. What do you think were the strongest parts of the plan and what aspect of strategic planning that you read supports your conclusion?
2. What do you think were the weakest parts of the plan and what aspect of strategic planning that you read supports your conclusion?
3. Does the organization where you currently work have a strategic plan? If not, how would it help to have a strategic plan? If one does exist, what improvement would you propose and why?
4. After reviewing the interviews of Chiefs Lanier and Ramsey, how would you incorporate the concepts of “criminal indicators” and “community engagement” into a police department’s strategic plan?
PART 2
1. How would you rank the three models derived from decision-making theory in terms of application to policing and why?
2. Discuss the most common errors in decision making and identify which error is the most common based on your experience within your organization. Please explain your answer.
