P1: Describe the type of business, purpose and ownership of two contrasting businesses
Scenario
You work for a large multinational organization considering relocating to Hong Kong. They have asked you to conduct some research into how international businesses operate in the local business environment.
For the purpose of this assignment you will need to look at 2 contrasting organisations. You must make sure your organisations meet the following criteria:
- One profit, and one not for profit organisation
- One small and one large business For each organisation, choose wisely. You need to know a lot of information so either choose an international company that you have a connection with or an organization that will have a lot of information available to the public.
Task 1 (P1) Present your information on the following in a short presentation. For each business you need to describe the following information:
- Introduction slide (introduce yourself and the 2 companies)
- Type of business
- Local, national or international?
- Public or private sector
- For profit/not for profit?
- Primary, secondary or tertiary sector?
- Purpose of the business
- Why does it exist?
- What products/services does it provide?
- How do they supply to consumers or businesses?
- Ownership of the business
- What ownership type is this business?
- What are the benefits of being that business type?
- What are the main implications of this business type?
- What is limited and unlimited liability?
