Expected Outcomes for the EBP Project Proposal

Strategies if Outcomes are not Positive or Fail to Provide Expected Results  

While stakeholders can provide resources and commitment toward practice change through EBP projects, they may not get the desired outcomes due to various factors. Therefore, they develop appropriate strategies to overcome negative results and get expected outcomes. Concerning the current project, failure to lower the incidence of CAUTIs will be the primary indicator of nonpositive outcomes. Therefore, the project team will address nonpositive outcomes through a critical evaluation and analytical approach to the project to establish possible causes of its failure (Melnyk et al., 2022). Consequently, the team will re-evaluate different components of the project, from its design, project process steps, and modify the proposed interventions based on the findings that will emerge. The team will also review the process, including assessing the availability of resources, stakeholder engagement, and identifying gaps that may have necessitated the deviation from the expected results (Leavy, 2022). The team may also consider implementing an alternative to the current approach to lower CAUTIs in critical care settings in the facility.

Plans on Maintenance, Extension, Revision, and Discontinuation of Proposed Solution

The evaluation of the collected data or results of the effect of the proposed project after six months, together with stakeholder feedback and progressive assessment, will determine appropriate plans to maintain, extend, review, and even discontinue nurse-led care bundle. The project’s core maintenance will be through continuous training of nurses and translation of evidence into practice based on patient care needs. Additionally, nurses will maintain the project by integrating current best practices by reviewing existing literature evidence (Melnyk et al., 2022). The team will extend the proposed solution through technology integration and training on best and upcoming practices based on research evidence (Riley et al., 2025). A revision will be founded on the outcomes, especially post implementation, and based on feedback from patients and nurses. However, the proposed solution may only be discontinued if it fails to reduce and prevent infections among patients. More fundamentally, the discontinuation may only happen after thorough and transparent engagement of all stakeholders and based on outcomes at every stage of the implementation.

Conclusion

Evaluating proposed EBP projects allows stakeholders to gather evidence about the impact and appropriateness of such interventions. A project evaluation plan allows organizational leaders and the implementation team to determine the possible long-term effects of the project in addressing a clinical issue like catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs) among patients and the best practices to reduce their prevalence. The proposed EBP will be evaluated using a quantitative approach since numerical data will enable accurate and objective evaluation. Regular updates and training of nurses will maintain the project and allow stakeholders to extend it based on its performance and attainment of desired outcomes.
