Points to Note:

1. There are 100 marks for this assignment which is 40% of the final course grade.
2. The word limit for this assignment is 3,000 words (+/-10%), excluding references, figures, tables, and appendixes.
3. Ensure you follow academic citation and referencing requirements, as failure to do so may invoke penalties. Use APA (7^th ). A reference list is required.
4. You are also required to reference the use of any tools / software / application used. This includes the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to paraphrase or proofread, which requires a statement where applicable.
5. Upon submission your assignment will be checked for copied materials as well as the use of AI (artificial intelligence), with penalties to be applied where appropriate and if not appropriately referenced.
6. You may submit your assignment as a draft submission (Moodle/Turnitin) to check similarity prior to making your final submission.
7. Late submissions incur a 5% penalty (5 marks) for each 24-hour period up to 96 hours (after that time, your mark will be recorded as zero).
8. An extension may be granted if, within the prescribed timeframe, you submit an ‘Assignment Extension Application’ form with supporting documentation (e.g., a medical certificate) to the Programme Administration Unit.

As set out in your Course Outline, this assignment requires you to fulfil the following:

LO3: Apply management processes relevant to the provision of health services in New Zealand

LO4: Improve methods to supervise and communicate with staff and clients in an appropriate manner within set budgets and timeframes

Assessment Description

In this assessment you will critically evaluate the healthcare management processes of a chosen healthcare organisation in New Zealand. You will conduct a SWOT analysis, evaluate current healthcare management processes and propose justified recommendations for change.

Task

Choose a healthcare organisation in New Zealand, such as a Regional Public Health Service, a hospital, or a primary care clinic. Research relevant information on its management processes, policies, and challenges.

In your report you should include:

1. Organisation Overview

• Introduce the chosen organisation and provide context for your assessment.
• Discuss key policies and analyse how these policies influence the organizational practices.
• Assess the significance of decision-making in healthcare services.

2. Evaluation of Management Processes

• Conduct a SWOT analysis of the organisation, focusing on its management processes.
• Evaluate clinical workflows, patient care quality, staff engagement, financial management, and technology use.
• Assess current methods of supervision and communication with staff and clients.
• identify areas for improvement within set budgets and timeframes.

3. Recommendations

• Based on your analysis and evaluation provide three well-justified recommendations for enhancing decision-making processes and management practices.
• Discuss potential barriers to implementation and strategies to overcome them.
