ASSESSING CULTURAL COMPETENCE
Being a culturally competent health educator can help reduce the health equity gap many racial and ethical minorities feel when receiving care. Many health education messages are not culturally competent resulting in a cyclic effect of health disparities. If health educators can improve their personal cultural competence, they can be better prepared to tailor health messages and assist vulnerable populations in making healthier decisions and improving health equity leading to healthier outcomes.
